Chicago issues weather alerts: As a line of severe weather moves across the country, Chicago officials issue warnings for the public. The warnings were issued today from the city’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications.
In a statement, officials warned of a risk of an outbreak of dangerous and extreme thunderstorms through Sunday night. The warning goes into effect from about 6PM Sunday night until about 1AM CST Monday morning.
During the Chicago severe weather event, there is an expectation that the thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail and harmful winds. To be safe residents are encouraged to avoid being out in the weather and remain indoors if possible.
